Pet Goats & Pap Smears

A Reflective Review By Andrea R. Garrison – Online With Andrea

Pet Goats & Pap Smears – 101 Medical Adventures to Open Your Heart & Mind by Dr. Pamela Wible is a delightful read. It is hard to believe that anything medical can be associated with anything delightful but in this case it is absolutely true. Dr. Wible truly enjoys her work and it shows in her service to her patients and her fellow colleagues in the medical profession and beyond. Pet Goats and Pap Smears teaches us patience and the importance of listening and caring. In the introduction Dr. Patch Adams states that “Pet Goats & Pap Smears presents stories of sweetness in the practice of medicine. Pamela’s stories are so delicious; you want to be a doctor.”
If you are wondering about the story behind the title Pet Goats & Pap Smears my suggestion is that you read the book. You will not be disappointed. To learn more about the amazing heart work of Dr. Pamela Wible visit her website www.idealmedicalcare.org,  and listen to the Online With Andrea interview with Dr. Wible on Why Doctors Commit Suicide.

The Obesity Paradox - When Thinner Means Sicker and Heavier Means Healthier

A Reflective Review By Andrea R. Garrison – Online With Andrea

The Obesity Paradox - When Thinner Means Sicker and Heavier Means Healthier by Dr. Carl J. Lavie is an important contribution to the on-going discussion on the key to good health and longevity. Dr. Lavie presents a cautionary note to those who are thin and normally considered to be healthy. He also presents a ray of hope to those considered to be too fat who in actuality may be fit and healthier than a thinner person. The disadvantages of being overweight is widely known but the risks of being too thin are rarely discussed which is why the work of Dr. Lavie is so important in this world filled with many who are obsessed with being thin. The emerging data in Dr. Lavie’s work indicates that there is an “obesity paradox,” in that being overweight may actually protect some patients. The Obesity Paradox is informative and enlightening. It offers a new twist and lends credibility to the elders who would say, “put a little meat on your bones.” For more information on this fascinating study revealed in The Obesity Paradox visit www.obesityparadox.com and listen to the Online With Andrea interview with Dr. Carl (Chip) Lavie.
